Every year May and June are super busy with all kinds of big running events. Most of my A-races fall around this time so my weekends are busy training or racing and my weekdays are full of tapering and recovery. It’s kind of like Christmas but for running. Ha ha.

This year, I’ve been extra busy because not only did I race my fastest marathon and best ultra marathon yet but I’ve been participating in a few marathons of another sort. That’s right, I have a little confession: I don’t just just run marathons, I sometimes watch them on tv.

I found this pic on Imgur from the Boston Marathon but there were some funny Netflix Marathon signs at RnR Seattle this past weekend too!

And my Netflix marathon times are getting faster too!

It kind of all started when I first got Netflix last year. I had to see what all the hype was about and watched the entire series of Breaking Bad in what I thought was a pretty short amount of time. I was sneaking in episodes wherever I could just to get it all done.

Then when I was down in LA for the LA Marathon last March, my good friend Jackie turned me back onto Gossip Girl and so began my second Netflix marathon. Then it was Dexter and then Grey’s Anatomy right from the very beginning of Derek and Meredith.

The nice thing about these marathons is that they don’t require any training! However, just like the spring is busy with races, a whole bunch of amazing shows have just been added to Netflix so I’ve been busy on that front too. Here’s the Netflix marathons I’m currently running…

1. Orange is the New Black Season 3

Are you hooked on OITNB yet? If you’re not, you need to get on it and start with Season 1. I completely binge watched the first two seasons after someone suggested I should check it out and then very (im)patiently awaited the arrival of the third season. As part of the Netflix #StreamTeam I was invited to a special pre-screening a couple weeks ago and now I’m diligently working my way through the season and loving it.

There’s nothing like watching a new tv show in a room full of super fans!

2. Homeland Season 3

In the absence of OITNB I took another friend’s suggestion and decided to check out Homeland. I’m not typically into US war themed shows but holy cow, this one sucked me in hard. It’s the story of a POW who is discovered after being held for 7 years and then has to come back to his old life and family who all presumed he was dead. It’s fascinating and suspenseful and gut-wrenching and interesting all at the same time. Oh and it’s got Claire Danes in it as a sort of crazy CIA agent. Anyhow, Season 3 just came online recently and I can’t help myself. I might have even watched an episode or two in the bathtub!

I’ve always loved Clare Danes and she’s amazing in this show

3. Suits Season 4

This one was my husband’s find and when he told me about it I just kind of rolled my eyes. I figured it was another boring corporate drama but after he forced me to watch a few episodes with him, I gotta say, I’m hooked on Suits too. I need another Netflix marathon like I need a hole in the head but Season 4 just got added to Netflix and now I need to get myself all caught up with Harvey Specter and everyone else. Oh and I think my husband secretly thinks he’s as suave and savvy as Harvey but shh, don’t tell him I said that.

So yes, it’s true, I have completed many marathons in my life and not all of them have been on the road or trail. Have you ever done a marathon? Netflix or otherwise? Any shows you’re loving on Netflix right now that I should know about?

Disclaimer: I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team for which I receive various perks but all opinions are always my own. I was a confessed Netflix-aholic even before the Stream Team came along…

I used to make fun of people who marathoned shows on Netflix. Now I’m one of them. It’s a great way to tune out at the end of a long day :) I’ve also started watching Greys from the beginning! I’m excited about Suits too. I started watching Nashville … I don’t have a TV so Netflix works well for me!
