We had a really fantastic holidays this year. I mean, every Christmas is always fun but this year, I don’t know, it was just really relaxed and enjoyable. I think it’s because most of our time was spent hanging out and just plain old spending time with friends and family.

No better way to spend the holidays than that!

Our holiday season started out with a day of skating with my entire family, yup, even my mom and dad made it out. The kids loved it and then we went back to my sister’s house for dinner and gift-opening. A couple days later my husband’s family travelled over to stay with us for a few days.

Christmas Eve was spent here at our house with both mine and my husband’s parents. We did a huge feast of appetizers instead of a meal, got the kids all jammied up and enjoyed sprinkling reindeer food in the backyard and of course, setting out the milk and cookies. This year we tried the chocolate chip cookie stick recipe shared by the Netflix Stream Team and it was perfect for the Big Guy!

Yum. The chocolate chip cookie sticks are kind of like biscotti and awesome dipped in milk…

Christmas Day was super chill – we had brunch, played a big game of driveway hockey, skateboarded, indoor snowball fights, naps and even an afternoon bath before the turkey was done. So relaxing.

The turkey turned out soooooo good, I just had to share a picture of it!

For New Years we headed up to the cabin for a bit of time with my family again and totally enjoyed all kinds of snow activities like sledding and yes, even a short run in the snow. I am happy to report that my pesky foot felt great and after another couple runs, I’m heading out for something longer tomorrow. Fingers crossed it continues to feel so good.

Not a bad run for -10 degrees!

New Years Eve itself was pretty low-key but we managed to get out for a bonfire, some late night sledding for the kids and even some fireworks. I have to be honest though, we may have tricked the little kids into thinking that the New Year came a little earlier than it actually did but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t mind. They’ve been watching All Hail King Julien all winter break and were super excited to finally get to celebrate and don their King Julien party hats!
