Ahh November, you’re such a tricky little month. As you roll in we allow ourselves to start thinking about Christmas and all the fun that lies ahead. But only cautiously, of course, because we still have all of November to get through first. Lots of time to prepare and plan and relax before the holiday craziness begins, right?

The holiday craziness starts pretty early in our house!

But then whammo, before you know it the buffer of November has flown by and all of a sudden it’s December! If you’re anything like me, now that today is December 1st you’re looking at your holiday to-do list and realizing it’s still pretty long despite all those plans to get things done early. Oops.

Oh well, no matter how long it takes to decorate, shop, bake, write letters, plan parties, wrap gifts (and yes, even painstakingly hide that time-consuming little elf around my house every night) my favourite thing about the upcoming holidays is the family time.

And I love spending that time together amidst the pretty decorations...

And I love spending that time together amidst the pretty decorations…

My kids are still little and with the weather changing they’re happy to be inside a bit more helping out with holiday tasks and hanging out together. We had some real cold snaps this month so we definitely took the opportunity for some extra snuggles and couch time to check out the November Stream Team suggestions.

Our favourite this month, by far, was Despicable Me. I’ve seen those weird little minions all over for the past year or so and wasn’t sure it was really going to be my kind of show but from the opening theme song, I have to admit, I was kind of hooked. My boys loved Mr. Gru’s shrink rays and freeze rays and I of course, loved how the super-villain himself becomes the unlikely father to three sweet, orphaned little girls.

Mr. Gru and his girls…

Great movie, cute story, quirky details and all those minions. My boys now hold anything circular they can get their hands on up to their foreheads and pretend they are minions. It’s pretty silly. I’m thinking of doing this simple craft idea from fellow #streamteam’er Sweet Potato Chronicles and make fun character masks with them to give them their minion fix!

Thanks SPC for the fun craft idea to go with this movie!

As always, there are many great titles for big and small on November’s list of streaming suggestions. December has just begun but there’s still plenty of time to check out these titles before diving head first into all of the holiday shows. Enjoy!
