This post is a bit of a public service announcement for those of you out there who had fun running any of the Rock ’n’ Roll races this past year.

I’ve always loved RnR events and had great fun in Seattle and my hometown of Vancouver which got it’s very own RnR half marathon this year! I was also planning to do Las Vegas but sadly had to cancel on that one for medical reasons and admittedly, found myself super envious seeing just how much fun everyone had on the strip this year.

Anyhow, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about 2015 and which races I want to run (in particular, which Rock ’n’ Roll races) when up popped a fantastic opportunity. The kind folks at Rock ’n’ Roll are offering some serious discounts on some of their biggest events this Thursday, November 20th only! You can visit the link via the graphic below or click here to see all the savings!

They have also created a really neat app called #myrnrtour that allows you to plan out your Rock ’n’ Roll races for 2015 and then produce a tour map that you can share with everyone on social media. As part of the Rock Blog team again for next year I know I’ll be running at least 3 races but I kind of have my eye on one more.

If you’re interested in 3 or more races you might want to consider purchasing one of the Rock ’n’ Roll Tour Passes which gets you multiple RnR races for one price and only one transaction fee (more info about the tour pass can be found here). So here’s what I’d like to do for next year…

I’ve run Seattle three times before, Las Vegas once and Vancouver once but I’d really love to finally add in Portland to earn some of the limited edition west coast medals. Check out the medal count for just these 4 races…

In addition to the 4 event medals I would earn, there would be the Rock Encore, Triple Crown and Grand Slam for completing 2, 3 and then 4 RnR events in one calendar year (that’s a total of 7 medals so far).

Then there would be the Pacific Peaks medal for completing Seattle and Portland and then the Cascadia medal for completing Seattle, Portland AND Vancouver (Now we’re up to 9 medals…)

And then if I’m ambitious, I could also do the Las Vegas 5k before the half marathon and earn the 5k medal plus the Remix Challenge medal! This would make a grand total of 11 medals for 5 races – a pretty good haul!

Now that would be some serious bling. Now, I still need to run this whole plan past my family but fingers crossed, I’ll find myself all registered soon!

Are you planning to take advantage of any of the discounts this Thursday? Will I see you at any of these events?

I applied for the Rock n Roll team – hopefully I get a spot! Fingers crossed

You are lucky that there are so many RnR races near you! The closest one for me in Montreal – and then everywhere else is hours (6+) away. Las Vegas seems like so much fun, but I think the race is on a Sunday, which is problematic for time off :-( and well….expensive!

Funny enough – out of all the races I looked at for travel costs, Vancouver is the most expensive, yet I live in Canada :-( One day I will make it out to Vancouver!

Yes, if you do Vegas you pretty much have to make it into a long weekend. And yeah, we are pretty lucky over here on the west coast because there are actually a few others in California and other states around there I could get to quite easily. One year I want to buy the big tour pass and do as many as I can. If you come to Vancouver you could lighten the costs by staying with one of your west coast blogging friends!

Your as bad as I am when it comes to medals! I am thinking of doing Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. That would earn me a nice amount of bling and be easy enough to get to.

Yes, I confess. I’m a bit of a bling collector. Probably why I chose Goofy Challenge as my first marathon! One marathon, a couple extra races and ALL THOSE MEDALS! I love that RnR does the Heavy Medal series bc RnR seriously has some of the nicest medals around!

Excellent post, this is basically our goal for 2015.Vegas was a blast. You can save a bit more by buying the Tour Pass 3 pack and paying for one entry separately. The Tour pass covers three entries for $199 with only one registration fee of $7.99.
If you enter all four runs tomorrow the total including fees would be $370.96 USD, if you buy the tour pass and pay for Vancouver separately the price drops to $279.98 USD including fees.

Good point Glenn! I’ll be using a Tour Pass for my events but I totally forgot to mention that in my post! I’ve edited to include a link to the Tour Pass (which is still at the same site anyway) There are definitely some good deals to be had!

I’m waiting on hearing about being part of the Rock ‘n Blog team and now this. Gah! I don’t know what to do. Hahaha.
Vegas is obviously on my list as is STL because my bff lives there and is already registered. Beyond that – help! :)

Yes, that is definitely a tough one! Did they say when they would be announcing the successful candidates?

I did Portland, Seattle and Vancouver this year and walked away with 8 metals! I’m a little surprised they let me though airport security with the Cascaida medal. That is one hefty piece of bling! I had a blast running all 3 races, and would recommend all of them.

I had been hoping to do Portland and Seattle again this year, but Seattle happens to fall on the same day as both mine and my sisters graduations. My parents are going to have fun with that. :p

Oh! And thanks for the heads up about the savings!

    2. slowfastnik

That’s so rad, I really wish I could have done all three this year. I think the timing will work out a bit better in 2015. I want that medal too!

  6. Jennifer

I live in Vancouver and want to run Portland and Seattle and am already registerd for Arizona in January. I will put these on my tour pass. I registerd for Vancouver last October at the expo so that is already alot of bling. I had so much fun in Vegas last year I plan to do that again. So BAM that’s 5!! But are they offering Pacific Peak and Cascadia in 2015. I had a hard time finding it.

    1. slowfastnik

5! That’s so rad. I want to do a whole RnR year sometime and do as many as I possibly can! I’m already registered for Seattle and then am hoping to do the others I need for Cascadia. I missed out on LV last year and sadly don’t think I’ll be able to do it this year either because my brother in law is getting married that weekend! Think he’d notice if I wasn’t there? :)

  7. Glenn Rideout

To bad you will miss out on Vegas this year, can you convince your brother in law to get married in Vegas instead perhaps a run through wedding ? lol. I was in contact with Competitor group today and they informed me that they will not other the Pacific Peaks medal in 2015.

    1. slowfastnik

I’m working on him to change the date or venue but no luck so far! And yes, they released their Heavy Medal and Limited Edition lineup since this post and the Pacific Peaks medal won’t be around this year. Oh well, it’s still a pretty good haul!

  8. Tdoc

Unfortunately, RnR confirmed that they are not doing the Pacific Peaks medal this year. It looks like Cascade is the one to get.

    1. slowfastnik

Yeah, I’m thinking they may have dropped it so that they don’t double up on an extra medal for the same races…
