That’s right! DietBet V2.0 starts in just under two weeks. And here’s why…

If you’ve followed this blog for awhile or know me in person at all, you might be aware that I seem to have a little problem. We all like to celebrate after finishing a big race but my problem is that I really like to indulge.

Like, a lot.

Mmm finish line fries!

So much so that my friends brought fries to the finish line of my ultra marathon this past weekend. Thanks Jen!

I’ve written about it many times and have poked lots of fun at myself but the reality is, I want to do things differently this time. I’m all for letting myself indulge a bit (I just ran 71km this weekend for goodness sakes!) but does it really make sense to ‘celebrate’ a huge athletic endeavour by pumping my body full of garbage food?

Not really.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve certainly enjoyed a few bowls of chips and some ridiculously carb-laden meals in the past couple of days but it’s time to let the ‘celebrations’ die down. And since trusting myself to simply ‘make good choices’ doesn’t seem to be enough, I’m choosing to host another DietBet so I have the cozy confines of a game to keep me on track.

The rules are simple:

  • Join our game for $30
  • Commit to losing 4% of your body weight in the next 4 weeks
  • At the end of 4 weeks, all successful players split the pot!
  • The more people who play, the more you stand to win

Just to be sure I get at least a little while to indulge and enjoy myself post-ultramarathon, the game doesn’t officially start until June 10. That gives us two weeks to get mentally ready to start making better choices. Two weeks to round up your friends and challenge them to join us.

The game ends on July 7, just in time to feel good and ready for shorts, swimsuits and tank tops! And in case you’re wondering, we chose to start the game on a Tuesday so that we get to weigh out on a Tuesday when the game ends. There’s just something about coming off a weekend and having to officially weigh out on a Monday that seems unfair. Mondays already have a bad rap. Ha ha.
